1-7-2012 - The Stratford swimming and diving teams started the new year with some quality competition against rival Memorial. While training over the holiday was tough, many of the spartans were able to have great swims. The girls fell to the Mustangs, but got some great individual efforts from Julia O'Loughlin in the 200 and 500 freestyles, where she collected the team's only 2 individual event victories. The men squeaked out a win on the strength of a relay sweep of the mustangs including a .02 second victory in the 200 Free Relay. After that, it is championship season time, with Non Varsity districts, District, Regions, and on to STATE! Go Spartans
12-7-2011 - The spartan women swam well, but were overmatched by Katy Taylor and Cinco Ranch in a tri-meet today. Several swimmers turned in season best times and despite being short-handed, the relays swam well. The men, on the other hand, pulled out two narrow victories over the Cougars and Mustangs, and also showed some speed despite a rough week of training. A split squad took on Houston Christian, Spring Woods, and Memorial JV on Thursday and the price of entry was some form of non-perishable food item. The teams collected over a half ton of food to donate and had some strong swims as well. We are officially on the home stretch, with just some holiday training, an MHS dual on Sat the 7th, and Clear Falls on the 17th before our championship season!
12-3-2011 - The Spring Branch Invitational was another opportunity for the Spartans to show what they could do against a field full of 11 teams, full of 5A schools, and they didn't disappoint. The women finished 3rd behind Memorial and Cinco Ranch, while the men pulled out a narrow victory over MHS. Event winners were Brandon Hay in the 200 Free, Rob Gahn in the 200 IM and 100 Fly, Michael Miller in the 500 Free. The men also managed to sweep the 3 relay events. Next action will be against Cinco Ranch and Taylor at Cinco on Tuesday the 5th

Tomorrow's meet agains Spring Woods has been cancelled due to a lighting issue at the natatorium.
11-8-2011 - The Spartans competed over the weekend in the LCISD Invitational in Rosenberg and again Tuesday night against 5A Clements High School. The dual with the Rangers provided some heated races and great in-season performances by both squads. In the end, Clements was just a little too strong for SHS, pulling out a 40 point victory on the girls side, and edging the boys in the last race for an 8 point difference. Despite the losses, the Spartans stepped up. The women posted season best times in all 3 relays and saw Hannah Ashcroft win the 100 Free and Rachel McCleary take the 100 Breaststroke. The men saw two season best performances in the freestyle relays and Kyle Rathgeb, Michael Miller, and Rob Gahn post individual wins. The Spartans will hit the pool next at the Corpus Christi South Zone TISCA meet over the weekend and against district foe Spring Woods on Monday the 21st at the SBISD nat.
11-5-2011The LCISD Invitational was the first outdoor swim meet Stratford has participated in in over 10 years. Though the weather started out a little brisk for a swim, the team warmed up quickly and has some excellent performances on their way to victory in both the mens and womens divisions. This was a great mid-season look at Region 6-4A competition and contenders. highlights were a 1-2 finish in the mens medley, Rob Gahn's 200 IM win, and Michael Miller's 100 Breaststroke victory. For the ladies, Hannah Ashcroft and Courtney Jackson had great 200 Freestyles, Kaysey Weber had a solid 200 IM, and the underclassmen showed some tremendous time drops across the board.
