Next Meet 12/6&7 @ South Zone TISCA or 12/6&7 @ Spring Branch Invitational @ WW Emmons Natatorium
11/15&16/2013 @ Houston 4A TISCA
Women - The girls had some fantastic unrested swims and landed in a 3rd place finish among 18 squads. The ladies were only outpointed by Kingwood Park and Magnolia, both strong teams. The girls meet had several top 3 finishers including the Medley Relay (3rd) the 200 Free Relay (1st) Erin Avary 50 (3rd) and Jordan Ransom (Dive)
Men - The men had an up and down meet, but overall, started to step up. They finished in 3rd behind Kingwood Park and Summer Creek. The mens meet was finished with an exclamation point in the 400 Free Relay. The guys stepped up and went a season best that was good for 3rd place.
Libby gave the links to the cheerleader of the meet, Sabrina Yun. In between screaming sessions, Sabrina found a way to go a lifetime best in the 50 Free!
11/9/2013 - Stratford vs Memorial
Women - In a highly contested meet, the girls gave a great effort, but came up 14 points short with diving included. In defeat, they showed some great determination, taking 2 of the 3 relays from the arch rival Mustangs, with the third coming down to the finish. Individual event winners were Erin Avary (50), Jordan Ransom (dive), and Brittany Baerg (Br)
Men - The men, like the women have been battling a mighty flu bug lately and toughed it out against the Mustangs. There were some close races and alot of heart, but it wasn't enough in the end. Memorial came out on top by 39 points, snapping the Spartan streak in the series. Individual event winners were Sam Cordova (200 & 100), Nick Airola (50), and Michale Gallery (dive). The men stole both of the Free Relays to make it a fun meet. Nick McMahon gave the links to Libby Gahn. Good Work Libby!
11/5/2013 - Stratford vs Tompkins
Women - The Spartans travelled to the brand new, and very impressive, Katy Obra Tompkins High School to swim against a familiar face. Coach Denton now heads the Falcons in their first year. With just 9th and 10th graders representing KAOT, SHS gave it's younger groups a chance to shine and there were some quality swims.
Men - The men had a bit of a rocky road, but there were definitely a few bright spots. Nick McMahon cracked under 24 seconds in the 50 and with a positive attitude, took home the links.
10/29/2013 - Stratford vs Mayde Creek & Westside
Women - The ladies continue to impress with some quality in-season swims. They found another relay sweep in addition to several season bests. A young Westside team was game for the challenge, but depth was the deciding factor for the Spartans. Maddie Robinson, Jordan Ransom, and Kristen Peck collected event victories on the night.
Men - The Spartan men found the win column with 2 victories in one night. The relays stepped up with a sweep and again, we saw several season bests on a night with no warm-down pool. Taylor Nicholas (200), Nick Airola (50), Michael Gallery (Dive), Chance Parker (100), and Brandon Hay (500) touched the wall first. The links trio from last week decided that with lifetime bests in the IM and the 100 Free, Marie was the winner of the links. Congrats Marie!
10/24/2013 - Stratford vs Clements & Cinco Ranch
Women - With some exceptional swims, the Spartans snapped a losing skid to Clements High School, but fell short on some close races with Cinco Ranch to split 1- 1 on the night. It was another great night for relays, with both the 200 and 400 improving from last week's performance. Individual event winners were Kristen Peck (100), Courtney Jackson (Back), and Brittney Baerg (Breast)
Men - The boys showed a rapid improvement from last week with some depth and and a strong 200 Free Relay, but went 0 - 2 on the evening against extremely strong Ranger and Cougar squads. After winning the links last week, Sam Cordova passed them on to Gaby Cruz, David Fox, and Jack Brasher. The trio made up for being late by putting a strong effort into swimming all 12 events on the night. Well done guys (not for the late part, but for the awesome effort afterwards)
10/19/2013 - Stratford vs Kingwood Park
Women - The ladies used a strong medley relay performance to get off on the right foot and make a solid showing in a season opening victory over the Panthers. The Spartans were able to sweep all 3 relay events. Individual event winners were Erin Avary (50), Jordan Ransom (Dive), Courtney Jackson (Fly), Maddie Robinson (Back), and Brittney Baerg (Breast). SHS 165 K-Park 138
Men - With a young team making its' first appearance, Stratford fought hard, but fell to K-Park's speed and depth. The loss snapped a three year dual win streak against the Panthers. The Men were able to end on a high note, taking home a 400 free relay win. Sam Cordova was the only individual event winner in the 50 and 100 Free. SHS 138 K-Park 160
10/15/2013 - Green vs Gold Pentathlon - Green team wound up victorious! 447-443 over the gold.
