What is Color Guard?

The Stratford Color Guard provides visual aspects to the marching band by using dance, movement, flags, rifles, and sabres. When the marching band performs, listen to the audience and you will hear a lot of gasps, sighs, wows, and cheers when the Color Guard pulls out a new flag or tosses a rifle – making it turn 2, 3, 4 or even 5 rotations in the air and catching it altogether. During the winter and spring months, we participate in the Texas Color Guard Circuit series of indoor competitions as the Stratford Winter Guard. We perform a choreographed routine using dance, movement, dramatic expression, colorful flags, rifles, sabres, costumes, props and recorded music to create an amazing show. Our 2012 winter guard show featured "Turning Tables" by Adele.

Who can join Color Guard?

The Stratford Color Guard is open to all students who will attend Stratford HS next year, boys and girls. ***You do not have to play a band instrument to audition for the Color Guard!
