Orchestra
(Symphony, Philharmonic, & Cello Choir)

The Orchestra is actually comprised of three separate performing ensembles that meet as separate classes: Symphony, Philharmonic, and Cello Choir. Membership is by audition, but we have a place for anyone who plays one of the following stringed instruments: violin, viola, cello, and bass viol. We also can accept two pianists and two harpists each year. At the current time, there are no beginner classes offered; students must have had at least one year of instruction on their instrument. The Orchestra Officers plan monthly social activities as well as service and performance opportunities outside the regular concert schedule. One of the high points of the year is our annual performance tour.

The next concert of the Stratford Symphony Orchestra will be on Thursday, December 6 at the Christ Evangelical Presbyterian Church at Katy Freeway and Wirt road at 7:30pm. The Stratford Symphony will be performing Schubert's Mass in G with the SHS choir under the direction of Peter Steinmetz. Also featured will be student Concerto Competition soloists Sujin Yoon and Andrew Waddell.

The next concert of the Stratford Junior Varsity Orchestras will be Tuesday, October 23 at 6:30pm in the Stratford auditorium.
