On Wednesday through Friday of the week, we will be running modified schedules to allow our students an opportuinty to take a previous version of the TAKS test in Math, Science and Social Studies. By doing this, when our students take the last round of TAKS starting on April 27th, they have experienced the unique format of the various content area tests. An added bonus is we get some real data from these "bench mark" tests. Our teachers break down the student performance and find the areas that our kids really mastered the TEKS (the key curricular concepts) and areas where we may need to shore up instruction. This process is very enlightening as we are constantly looking at our instructional model for gaps and overlaps. Your child was given a detailed schedule, with a day by day breakdown of what Tuesday through Friday will look like for them. You may want to ask them if they have it, as it will prove very useful this week. A final note of congratulations to Hunter Bailey for his State Championship in the 200 yard freestyle at the State meet. Our boys swim team also finished a very impressive 5th in the State. Our Odyssey of the Mind team also won regionals and will compete at the State level in a few weeks. I hope your family has a great week.
