Craig James was a member of the SHS 1978 State Championship football team. He went on to a successful college career at SMU and then a career as a pro football player for the New England Patriots. Craig is now an analyst for ESPN/ABC Sports and can be seen regulary working as a commentator at both collegiate and professional football games. The evening is free and we encourage you to come hear Craig speak and then pick up a copy of his signed book. SHS is now in our third year of bringing in authors to do book signings on our campus and we team up with our neighbor - Blue Willow Book Shop. For our second event - SHS is working hard to help our students make good choices. Shattered Dreams is a program that uses students from a high school to simulate a drink driving crash. The simulation will close Fern Drive for about three hours as we stage, film and then remove wrecked cars. Students involved will have simulated injuries of varying degrees. There will be fatalities, a drunk driver will be arrested and life flight will land and take off a severely injured participant. The next day, there will be a follow-up assembly so that participants, including parents of involved students can share their experience with the student body. All 11th and 12th grade students will view the event live and then, two weeks later, all SHS students will view the DVD compilation of the entire event. We continue to work hard to help our students with choices that could have an impact on the rest of their life.
