Stratford Playhouse presents 'Young Frankenstein'
"Young Frankenstein"

The award-winning Stratford Playhouse will present the monstrously entertaining Mel Brooks’ stage version of "Young Frankenstein" in the Stratford Auditorium on Friday and Saturday, January 27-28, and Thursday through Saturday, February 2-4. This will be the first non-professional production of the musical in the region!

From the creators of the record-breaking Broadway sensation, "The Producers," comes this monster musical comedy. Comedic genius Mel Brooks adapted his legendarily funny film into a brilliant stage creation – "Young Frankenstein"!

Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein (senior Nicholas Rhew), inherits his family’s estate in Transylvania. With the help of a hunchbacked sidekick, Igor (senior Asher Rigo), and a leggy lab assistant, Inga (senior Anna Rigo) and mysterious housekeeper Frau Blucher (junior Kira Sledge), Frederick finds himself in the mad-scientist shoes of his ancestors, leaving behind his larger-than-life fiancé Elizabeth Benning (senior Haley Ash). “It’s alive!” he exclaims, as he brings to life a creature to rival his grandfather’s. Eventually, of course, the Monster (senior Hudson Perroni), escapes, and hilarity continuously abounds.

“The kids are doing an incredible job and have really embraced the humor of Mel Brooks. ‘Puttin’ on the Ritz’ is a sight to see!” says Director CeCe Prudhomme of her cast and crew. Student director Emerson Pettey says, “Getting to work on this show with the cast and crew has been so much fun! Seeing Elizabeth fall in love with the Monster is one of my favorite moments in the show.” Cast member Anna Rigo remarks, “This show is unlike anything I’ve done before. It’s funny, quick-witted, and constantly entertaining, but with beautiful music that is bound to get stuck in your head!”

"Young Frankenstein"

Every bit as relevant to audience members who will remember the original as it will be to newcomers, "Young Frankenstein" has all the panache of the screen sensation with a little extra theatrical flair. It will surely be the perfect opportunity for the award-winning Stratford Playhouse to showcase its array of talents, including a live student orchestra. With such memorable tunes as “The Transylvania Mania,” “He Vas My Boyfriend” and “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” "Young Frankenstein" is scientifically proven, wildly good entertainment.
